St. Francis in the Snow

Our very own Rev. Peter Helman provided this lovely picture on St. Mary’s Facebook page today. The beauty of the image inspired the following collect, and made us mindful that a number of you will be traveling to visit loved ones this week. We offer these prayers in thanks and in request for protection for those of you who are traveling. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, everyone!

We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of the snow that blankets the grass, trees, and rooftops; for the enjoyment of time spent close to those we love; for the protection that you offer from the cold. We praise you for these good gifts, and pray that we might be mindful of how we may assist those who need protection from the elements. Grant that we may continue to appreciate the beauty that you daily surround us with, to the honor and glory of your Name, now and for ever. Amen.

-A collect from the Kyrie Eleison Chapter of Daughters of the King

O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey’s end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
